Ongeveer 5% van de vrouwen krijgt te maken met de babyblues. Volgens een onderzoek bij 150 vrouwen kan dergelijke depressie tijdens de zwangerschap echter snel voorkomen worden met acupunctuur.

Vrouwen die tijdens hun zwangerschap in een depressie belanden, hebben baat bij acupunctuur. Dat concluderen onderzoekers. Ze bestudeerden 150 zwangere, depressieve vrouwen en gaven de helft ervan acupunctuur. Deze groep ging er ten opzichte van de controlegroep aanzienlijk op vooruit; de symptomen namen af.

'Acupunctuur werkt echt' Onderzoekers van de Universiteit van York hebben nu echter een opmerkelijk onderzoek gepubliceerd in het vakblad 'Brain Research' dat aantoont dat acupunctuur wel degelijk kan werken. (Brain Research, 5 februari 2010)
